Our Approach:
Training Format & Mentorship
- Flexible learning: White and Yellow Belts are self-paced online, and the rest of the belt series, Green through Master Black Belt, is taught live, online or in person, crafted to fit your busy life.
Advanced belts include mentorship: Green, Black, and Master Belt programs come with structured mentorship, pairing you with an experienced Master Black Belt to support your hands-on project work and ensure you apply the methodology accurately.
Optional mentorship for beginner belts: If you’re starting with White or Yellow Belt, you can choose to include expert mentorship to enrich your learning.
Our Learning Mindset
We’re not here to just hand out certificates, we’re here to build problem solvers. Our approach is built on one simple truth: you only improve what you apply. We encourage all students to actively use the principles from each course in their workplace. Whether it’s eliminating waste, improving a workflow, or solving a persistent issue, your job becomes your classroom.
What Sets Work Stream Academy Apart?
- Learn directly from certified Master Black Belts, real-world experts guiding you through impactful, project-based learning.
Ideal for working professionals: fully accessible online and flexibly structured around your schedule.
Mentorship is core to our program, and available as an optional enhancement for certain tiers.
We focus on results, not just rhetoric. Forget endless PowerPoints, our training makes the difference, and your progress shows it.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Which Lean Six Sigma belt should I start with?
If you are new to Lean Six Sigma, White Belt (3 hours) or Yellow Belt (15 hours) is a comfortable starting point. If you are ready to lead an improvement project in your department, Green Belt has no prerequisite, though completing White or Yellow first is encouraged. For Black Belt, prerequisites are reviewed case by case, so contact us at info@workstreamconsulting.com. Master Black Belt requires Black Belt certification.
What is the difference between Yellow Belt and Green Belt?
Yellow Belt is a 15-hour course that teaches key Lean Six Sigma tools so you can support improvement teams and contribute to small-scale initiatives, with no project required. Green Belt is 80 hours and goes deep into Lean Six Sigma tools and DMAIC. Green Belt participants complete a real-world improvement project with 1:1 mentorship from a Master Black Belt.
How long does each Lean Six Sigma belt take?
White Belt is 3 hours, Yellow Belt is 15 hours, Green Belt is 80 hours, Black Belt is 160 hours, and Master Black Belt is 200 hours. White and Yellow Belts are self-paced online, live in person, or a hybrid of both, and the other three are taught live, online or in person, and course access lasts 6 months after completion.
Do I need Black Belt before Master Black Belt?
Yes. Black Belt certification is required before Master Black Belt.
Is the training aligned with ASQ?
Work Stream's content follows ASQ guidelines and can be tailored to your organization's needs.
Do you offer group or team enrollment?
